THE WONDER OF IT ALL

©1999 Mark P. Hirschhorn

from the Ascending Music CD ‘The Wonder Of It All’

And if you ask me why I cry each time the morning meets my eyes

It’s just my simple way to say I’m glad to greet another day

That brings me yet another chance to join the everlasting dance

Of rhyme and melody so sweet that lifts my limbs and guides my feet

To share the journeys great and small that trace our spirits’ rise and fall

And thrill my heart when I recall the wonder of it all

There are times when I'm no longer me, but one with all Eternity

Of all the ways I feel so blessed, these are the ones I love the best

To drink from Life’s immortal well, and hear the tale the angels tell

‘Till I awake from Heaven’s Hall and still recall the wonder of it all

I’d like to find the words to show you how to step into the flow

Of peace and purity so strong that’s dwelt within us all along

The turning trails that we have climbed to light the caverns of our minds

And reach a long-forgotten place that holds us in the warm embrace

Of all our journeys great and small that trace our spirits’ rise and fall

And thrill our hearts when we recall the wonder of it all

There are times Tomorrow sings to me the measure of our destiny

A sacred metamorphosis that fills this human chrysalis

With words and wings of Love’s return, the language of our lessons learned

As we release the ancient thrall, yet still recall the wonder of it all

And if you tell me that you see a world of pain and poverty

I’d say the wounds we bear within are where its healing can begin

As every time our courage starts to work a change within our hearts

We bring the power of rebirth to all that moves upon this Earth

To share the journeys great and small that trace our spirits’ rise and fall

And thrill our hearts when we recall the wonder of it all
